Backlit aluminium foam panels for internal wall decorations, using LED lights

Over the past decade, LED technology has advanced rapidly to become the preferred solu-tion for lighting projects as demand grew. RGB LED allows us to utilise an infinite number of colours for creative applications at an affordable price. Its longevity and efficiency enable amazingly creative lighting installations around the world with almost no maintenance or servicing required. Due to its high-level of brightness, intensity, and energy efficiency, it is said to be the most preferred choice for many lighting professionals. The Aluinvent two-side-open (LO2) version of aluminium foam panels enable light to penetrate through – which therefore makes it the perfect choice to use for backlit LED lighting installations.

S/Alon 2019 Design Exhibition – Aluinvent Project Reference

At the 2019 S/Alon design fair, we were invited to take part in the development of the light-ing installation wall for BMW Wallis. The team was commissioned to create a design for an aluminium foam panel wall decoration which can be backlit. Part of the brief was to hide all wall fixings and joints to create a truly unified fully seamless wall piece. During construction, we used screws to fix the Aluminium foam facade to the console-railing system. The flexibility of the console-railing system enabled us to easily adjust it to the interior wall dimensions. This allowed us to complete the installation in a limited time span. The desired lighting effect was achieved by the installation of RGB LED strip lights, which could later be modified to the desired colour by the client.
