Facade on insulated panel
The construction industry widely uses insulated sandwich panels. They have excellent insulation properties, the system is simple and cost effective. Besides it is possible to select the insulation material according to the fire regulations of the building. Problem is the limited possibilities in design. In cooperation with Kingspan we have developed a simple solution to build an Aluminium foam facade on insulated panel walls. We have created the system in a way so that one can use it in case of new buildings or renovation projects as well.
Reusable ventilated facade on insulated panel
In our solution we use a special profile that ensures proper statical attributes. To fix the profile on the outer surface we use special screws. Through these profiles we get the supporting structure that will hold the facade on insulated panel. In order to meet sustainability criteria we use screws for fixing the Aluminium facade panels on the profiles. With this solution the entire system can easily be reused or recycled at the end of the life cycle of the building.
Increased energy efficiency
As background profiles work as distancing rails the facade on insulated panels is mounted on with an air gap. This solution results excellent heat protection properties. In hot summer days the Aluminium foam facade works as a heat shield. What it means that the outer side temperature of the insulated sandwich panel can easily be 20 °C lower. Compared to a case without Aluminium foam facade we can reduce the thermal load of the wall insulation by 50%. This is results significant energy savings in the operation of A/C systems.
Recent fires have pointed on the importance of choosing the right facade material
In case of facade materials fire performance is a key issue. In recent fires poor fire performance of the applied architectural panels resulted enormous damages. Our Aluminium foam facade panels have A1 rating meaning that they are simply uncombustible. Using insulated sandwich panels with similar fire performance the new wall will have excellent fire performance properties thereby increasing the value of the building.
